BioMar Group

More than half of the seafood consumed globally comes from aquaculture. BioMar is committed to developing and delivering efficient, sustainable, and healthy aquaculture feed solutions. Innovation and partnerships are at the heart of everything the company does, and BioMar takes pride in having highly skilled people who share this commitment. With feed factories in 13 countries across four continents, BioMar supplies feed to more than 90 countries, supporting over 45 different species of fish and shrimp.

A role with impact – and room to be yourself

In the role as Data Engineer at BioMar, the successful candidate will work with data from production sites and the ERP system (Infor M3) across the globe, consolidating it into a modern Azure-based data platform. The platform is already established and widely used, and the current focus is on designing new, effective data models, strengthening global governance, and continuously improving data flows and performance.

The role is part of a small, highly experienced Data & BI team within Global IT, where knowledge sharing, trust, and shared responsibility are central elements of everyday work. The team collaborates closely, values structured ways of working, and balances technical depth with an open and supportive team culture. On top of the data platform, Tableau is used as the global BI frontend, enabling insights for stakeholders across continents.

What the role involves

The Data Engineer will play a central role in shaping and operating BioMar’s Azure SQL–based data platform, working closely with colleagues in Global IT as well as teams across production sites worldwide. The day-to-day work includes designing and developing scalable data models for analytics and reporting, along with building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines using Inspari’s Toolkit based on SQL Stored Procedures.

The role also involves extensive work with transforming, validating, and optimizing data using SQL, with a strong focus on performance and data quality. A key responsibility is managing data from Infor M3 and global production sites, ensuring accuracy and consistency across regions. In addition, the Data Engineer will collaborate with the Data & BI team on platform architecture, governance, and security, while continuously improving platform reliability, performance, and usability to support business-critical decisions.

The position offers close collaboration with skilled colleagues who enjoy sharing knowledge, challenging assumptions, and designing solutions together.

Skills that power smart decisions worldwide

BioMar is seeking an experienced Data Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a solid understanding of the business context behind the data. The ideal candidate takes ownership of quality, values through documentation, and is comfortable navigating both detailed technical tasks and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires at least five years of experience in data engineering or a similar position, ideally within a cloud-based environment. Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling best practices, and ETL/ELT design is essential, along with hands-on experience with Azure-based data platforms such as Azure SQL DB and Azure Data Factory. Experience in designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and an understanding of how BI tools like Tableau rely on well-structured data models are also important.

In addition, the candidate brings a structured and quality-oriented mindset, appreciates documentation and governance, and communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Experience with global production and ERP data, as well as familiarity with Infor M3, is considered an advantage.

Be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking environment

At BioMar, the Data Engineer will become part of a truly global organization where data flows across multiple continents and plays a central role in how the company operates and innovates. The role is embedded in a small, warm, and highly experienced Data & BI team where colleagues know each other well, trust one another, and genuinely enjoy knowledge sharing and solving problems together. Collaboration, openness, and shared responsibility are part of everyday life, and the work environment is characterized by respect, curiosity, and a healthy balance between professionalism and informality.

The position offers the opportunity to work with a modern, mature Azure-based data platform that is business-critical and continuously evolving. The Data Engineer’s expertise will directly shape the next generation of BioMar’s data solutions and influence how data supports decisions across production sites worldwide, contributing to the company’s mission of driving sustainable aquaculture. Above all, the role is part of a purpose-driven organization that values collaboration, innovation, and an environment where good ideas are heard — and where work genuinely makes a difference.

BioMar offers a high degree of flexibility and freedom in planning the workday, along with the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, sustainable development within the aquaculture industry. The role also provides strong opportunities for both professional and personal growth, supported by experienced colleagues who enjoy sharing knowledge and challenging ideas to reach the best solutions.
